All appointments are set up using HIPAA-compliant software. Each time I set up an appointment, you will be sent a virtual link regardless of whether the appointment is in person or virtual. Just let me know your preference. If you are in person but have an emergency, therapy can be accessed online at the click of the link you will receive with each booking.

During our first appointment, I will review the intake paperwork you filled out before our first session. It is important for me to get to know your medical history, trauma history, things about your family of origin as well as treatment history and any symptoms you might be experiencing. The most important thing I like to do in the first session is relax, get to know each other, build rapport, and laugh a little. Life is hard; it’s harder when you’re not laughing.

The length of treatment is dependent on symptomatology and progression toward treatment goals. The goal is to ensure each individual is in the right level of care and has the correct dose of treatment. My goal is to empower you to make the changes necessary to live a rich, exciting, and fulfilling life while managing symptoms and developing skills to overcome the difficulties that are inevitable in life. My intention is never to keep people in counseling long-term. Each individual has very different needs, and we will create a treatment plan together that will project the length of treatment, which will be updated depending on progress.

I love working with and treating teens. I see the parent/child relationship as critical to treatment success. I like to work collaboratively with parents as I counsel their teens. I do keep what your child tells me confidential, as this is the legal requirement and essential in creating a therapeutic bond with your child. However, many clinically relevant things can and should be reported to parents. I like parents to help build the treatment plan and be involved in a treatment team meeting at the beginning of counseling to ensure everyone is on the same page for their child’s treatment. I also like to loop parents into the session occasionally to work on communication and parenting skills and improve the parent/child relationship.
