Therapeutic Lifestyle Center (TLC) focuses on a whole-body approach to mental health.
I’m Jennifer, owner and therapist at TLC. I am a licensed professional counselor who believes counseling should be a place where you feel supported and empowered.
TEENS
I am passionate about working with teens who are struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and substance use issues. I believe in partnering with parents and ensuring they understand the treatment goals and process so that progress can be made at home. I work to establish a great rapport with your teen. I have interacted with hundreds of teens through running adolescent therapy groups and church service in youth programs and have yet to find a teenager with whom I could not connect.
ADULTS
Are you a mom experiencing burnout? Do you feel stuck? There are so many demands on daily living, such as childcare, chores, activities, work, relationships, and many other responsibilities, that we forget to take care of ourselves. I was once this mom. My physical health was failing, and I had completely lost myself to motherhood. I was putting on everyone else’s oxygen mask but was completely unable and unwilling to put one on myself. Re-finding myself was an amazing process that led me to where I am now. Today, I am running my dream practice, working on a PhD, and thriving mentally and physically in every way. Let’s partner to get you to this point as well.
COUPLES
I enjoy working with couples and families in crisis. Whether you are a loving couple wanting to improve communication and intimacy or a couple ready to end things, I can help. I have worked with all ages and types of couples and love helping the dyad work through problems related to every area of marriage. And if you can’t make it work, I can help reduce conflict through the divorce process and minimize damage to the kids.
Here’s how we’ll work together.
STEP 1
Schedule a 15-minute phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit for each other. Every counselor has their style, and rapport is essential to treatment success.
STEP 2
Begin treatment. Our first session will entail gathering information about you and your history. Be prepared to talk to me about any past trauma, treatment goals, medications you are taking, and health problems. Once the session is complete, you can expect to receive a treatment plan that overviews your diagnosis (if there is one), treatment goals, and the expected length of treatment.
STEP 3
We will work together weekly or biweekly to resolve treatment goals and build coping skills to live an enriching life. We will revisit your treatment plan regularly and make updates as needed. As we get close to wrapping up treatment, I will update termination dates for treatment depending on symptomatology and treatment outcomes.
